For Central Coast Claims Association Secretary, Denise Garcia, of Marriott Execustay Insurance Housing Solutions, the fifth annual CCCA Bowling Tournament was personal. As the perennial Tourney Chair, she took it upon herself to turn the annual fun social event into a fund-raiser to benefit Angel Flight West. The CCCA membership responded in a big way.

“Response to this was so much greater than expected,” Denise reported, “that we had to move the tournament back to the larger Cambrian Lanes to accommodate everyone,” she said.

Denise hoped to raise as much as $2,500 for the benefit and use to support and help further the efforts of this non-profit organization. Through the very generous contributions of sponsors and bowlers, the CCCA instead raised more than $3,700.

Angel Flight West is a non-profit corporation that coordinates flights by volunteer private pilots, whereby they utilize their own time and resources to fly people from outlying areas in need of medical treatments only available at specialized hospitals, such as Stanford Medical Center, to their destination and back.

Denise’s sister had to undergo breast cancer treatments that she would not have been able to get to had it not been for fellow CCCA member and Angel Flight Pilot, Bob Tucknott. Mr. Tucknott volunteered his services, through the Angel Flight organization, to take on the mission.“My family owes such a debt of gratitude to Bob Tucknott, and Angel Flight for getting my sister there,” Denise stated flatly at the August CCCA luncheon meeting.

The CCCA contribution to Angel Flight will be presented to Bob Tucknott, on their behalf, at the October 19, 2006 CCCA luncheon meeting.Tucknott, a past Wing Leader for Angel Flight West, expressed his pride in being a part of an organization that does such true good for people, “Angel Flight is a such a great thing,” he said. “Every time I take on a mission it’s like a gift to me.”For more information on Angel Flight West, as well as to make further donations, go to: www.angelflight.org.

The bowling tournament was a fun event for all, especailly in knowing that by enjoying the day everyone concerned was contributing to a great cause.
