Tanglewood Restaurant Serves it up Nice A much larger than anticipated crowd turned out for the February 19, 2009 Central Coast Claims Association luncheon meeting at the group's new meeting location at Tanglewood Restaurant in Santana Row. The group of members and guests were treated to more than the standard presentation with the return of popular speaker Ulises Castellon, CPCU, RPA, of Fire Cause Analysis. Mr. Castellon created a bit of a dramatic production, using the real-life story of an extreme arson case his firm helped decipher a few years ago. A former SIU Manger for State Farm Insurance, Mr. Castellon knows what a suspicious claim looks like. For this presentation, he enlisted the talents of several folks from the crowd, reading parts for the various players in the crime. Castellon engaged the assistance of audience members taking starring roles in the reinactment of the arson case. Keven Crabb, of Blue Sky Cleaners, played the role of "Eric", the no-good, low-down attorney husband in the case. Kim MacFarlane, of PW Stephens, played the role of "Lucinda", the culprit, and CCCA Past President Denise Garcia, of Marriott Execustay, played the role of the girl friend/snitch. The trio took turns reading their respective pertinent bios relative to the case, before Ulises led the crowd through the scenario of an arson case gone horribly wrong. In laying out the many facts of the case, he demonstrated how professionals can effectively unravel even the most twisted of stories to determine the validity of a fire damage claim. Though the guilty parties were ultimately never prosecuted, the carrier was off the hook from having to pay the claim, despite a whole lot of shenanigans by the claimants. In the end, the crowd had a great time with the story line, and Ulises took what was already a fascinating tale and made it come alive. The Tanglewood Restaurant at Santana Row appears to be a great next step after a year or so at The Left Bank. The food was very good, and the wait staff on top of their game. |
