The notion that asbestos has left the building is a complete myth. Supposedly outlawed way back in 1980, the wonderfully effective natural insulator that kills continues to be used in everything from fl oor tile to, yes, sheetrock and roofi ng, at least when those materials are imported (and what isn’t imported these days?).
Brent Rudin, from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District
gave a very entertaining while most informative and enlightening presentation on the realities and impact of asbestos to a large crowd at the April CCCA luncheon meeting.
“There are more (instances) of asbestos now than 10 years ago,” he stated.
